Duration: 10 hours
Serving as the Thai capital for 417 years, the ancient city of Ayutthaya is one of the country’s most fascinating heritage destinations. Combining crumbling ruins and traditional Thai artifacts and artwork, this UNESCO World Heritage listed site is a must see destination for visitors interested in the ancient history and architecture of Southeast Asia.
Your Authentic Ayutthaya tour begins with a pickup from you port of call and transfer in our air-conditioned minivan north of Bangkok to the Ayutthaya Historical Park. This ancient city was founded in 1350 by King Ramathibodi I, and was ruled by successive royals until the Burmese Army destroyed the site in 1767.
Take a guided tour to witness the remains of its temples, monasteries and palaces, and discover the history and significance of Ayutthaya’s architecture. Some of its most important structures include Viharn Phra Mongkhon Bophit, known for its large bronze cast Buddha image, Wat Phra Si Sanphet, with its distinctive row of stupas, and the photogenic Wat Chaiwatthanaram, which boasts incredible views from the top.
Before returning to Bangkok and your port of call, we will also stop by the Ayutthaya Elephant Camp, where you can get up close to these gentle giants and even ride on the back of one!
NOTE: This tour is only possible for cruises staying in port for at least for one night.
